What is Prop 65?
Prop 65 (otherwise known as the California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986) lays out requirements for both the State and for businesses. First the State must publish a list of chemicals which are known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. The second step is that businesses which are subject to Prop 65 are required to provide a clear and reasonable warning prior to distributing a product that may have a chemical listed in Prop 65.
The current list of chemicals contains more than 900 naturally-occurring and synthetic chemicals. Some of the listed chemicals such as lead, chromium, and arsenic are naturally found in the environment and also are often found in common foods and nutrients even though these chemicals are not directly added.

Does a Prop 65 Warning mean our products are dangerous or harmful?
The exposure limits that the State of California has set for many chemicals on the Prop 65 list are far below the “safe” limits set by all other states. Additionally, they are below guiding regulatory agencies like the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the World Health Organization (WHO).
