Prop 65 FAQs
What is Prop 65?
Prop 65 (otherwise known as the California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986) lays out requirements for both the State and for businesses. First the State must publish a list of chemicals which are known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. The second step is that businesses which are subject to Prop 65 are required to provide a clear and reasonable warning prior to distributing a product that may have a chemical listed in Prop 65.
The current list of chemicals contains more than 900 naturally-occurring and synthetic chemicals. Some of the listed chemicals such as lead, chromium, and arsenic are naturally found in the environment and also are often found in common foods and nutrients even though these chemicals are not directly added.
Why is there a warning label on our products?
Since 2003 Mother Earth Labs USA has produced a line of high-quality, trace mineral-based nutritional supplements with a commitment to continual improvement of our products through innovation and quality. We always have been fully committed to complying with all federal and state laws and dedicated to working with our customers and suppliers to ensure our products meet consumer product safety requirements. As part of this continued promise and partnership, we have created this page to provide information regarding Proposition 65 (Prop 65) as it pertains to our products and items you need to know as a consumer of our products.
Mother Earth Labs USA manufactures products that contain ingredients which can naturally contain lead, cadmium, and arsenic. All of our ingredients are sourced with a focus on quality and every lot of our finished product is third-party tested to ensure that levels stay within the specifications laid out by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). You will find this "CALIFORNIA WARNING" label on many of our products required by California state law:
Does a Prop 65 Warning mean our products are dangerous or harmful?
The exposure limits that the State of California has set for many chemicals on the Prop 65 list are far below the “safe” limits set by all other states. Additionally, they are below guiding regulatory agencies like the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the World Health Organization (WHO). Our products are the same quality products you have come to expect from Mother Earth Labs USA.
